Betta Fish Care Is Actually Quite Easy

Betta fish are actually quite easy to care for and once you have set up your tank and purchased your chosen betta fish then it is time to add your betta. When considering betta fish care in is important that you make sure that you betta fish doesn’t get stressed out when you begin the process of introducing them to their new home and you can do this by following some simple steps.

Float the bag with the fish inside of it as it came when you purchased it; allow the bag to float for at least five minutes because this allows your fish to adjust to the change in temperature. You should then pour some of your aquarium’s water into the bag every few minutes, and then with a net you can put your betta carefully into his new home. Try not to pour the pet store water into the tank because this could be contaminated and when considering your betta fish care you should always use a brine shrimp net to avoid damage to your new pet’s fins, it is important to be careful and gentle.

The next thing you should do is feed your betta for the first time and a betta fish’s diet should consist mostly of pellets but on special occasions you can feed your betta frozen or freeze dried brine shrimp and blood worms. Feeding your betta is an important part of betta fish care and you should follow these important steps:

Make sure that you clean up any left over food that your betta doesn’t eat and make sure to watch that your betta doesn’t spit any food back up. Left over food can cause the water to turn quickly and can lead to unwanted bacteria and parasites. It is important in your betta fish care that you feed your betta a high protein and varied diet such as flakes, freeze dried food, live food and pellets, try everything to see which works best. Remember, without a varied diet your betta could become constipated and the betta will not be able to maintain its balance. If you do notice that your betta is constipated, then feed him a cooked and peeled pea and then don’t feed him for a few days and he should be fine.

When considering betta fish care you should always remember never to over feed your pet no matter how hungry he may seem to you. Over feeding can lead to all sorts of problems, it can even cause premature death.
