Toilet training when training a dog or a cat to use the bathroom, it is important that you set aside a place for them to do their business. For cats it is imperative that you keep the litter tray fresh and clean it often, and for puppies and dogs you should use a training mat. If you catch your dog or cat peeing where it shouldn’t, then take the pet back to the place where they fouled and show them what they have done. Then in a firm voice say ‘no’ and take them straight out to either the litter tray or the training mat. You should keep repeating this until your pet realises what he has to do.
Walking on a leash when it comes to dogs, walks are very important and it should be an enjoyable time for both the dog and the owner, and it should always be the owner walking the dog and not the other way around! If you have a small dog that pulls on a leash, then invest in a harness which goes around the dog’s body this is a great training aid and every time the dog pulls, tug the leash slightly to pull the dog back to your walking speed. Do not yank the leash or you might end up hurting the dog and always remember to praise your dog during pet training so that he knows he is doing well. If you have a large dog then you can get special training collars from all good pet stores and use the same method as you would when walking a small dog. Tug the leash firmly but not forcefully to bring the dog back to your level and always say ‘heal’ in a stern tone.
