When taking care of betta fish, it is important to note that the quality of the water is very important and this is true when keeping any type of tropical or salt water fish. You need to make sure that you condition the water to take out any harmful chlorines in the water which can harm the betta fish, you must also be sure to maintain good water quality and keep the pH at a balanced level, as well as the temperature, because if the water temperature is always changing then this can cause the betta fish to become ill or even to die.

It is also important to note when considering the care of betta fish that they are not big eaters but they should be fed a small amount of food once a day to once every other day. Betta fish will eat anything from flake food which you can buy in tubs of various sizes, freeze dried blood worms, frozen shrimp brine as well as live black worms. You can also feed betta fish betta pellets that are food which most betta species can eat. They are made out of crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat, crude ash and certain vitamins which helps to maintain the health and care of betta fish.

When kitting out the tank for your betta fish to live in, it is important that you consider what they will need. Betta fish are quite small fishes but they can vary in size from one inch up to five inches, but a 5 gallon tank should be more than enough to keep your betta fish in.

It is also important when considering the care of betta fish the ornaments and plants that you place in the tank with them. You should always choose silk or live plants because rough plastic plants can damage the fins and tails of the betta fish by ripping and tearing them. You should also consider putting some ornaments into the tank with the betta so that they have somewhere to rest and hide and it will also look nice.

Betta fish are not that difficult to take care of and it is easy to maintain the care of betta fish simply by knowing what they need and how they can thrive in their environments.
